How Everything Started…
“ALAS was first established in 2005”
We had a dream, a vision and a mission to help our Hispanic community when it was most in need. Before we decided to come together and create an official organization, we were just a group of doctors and volunteers coming together to help our most vulnerable immigrant population.
Around the 1990’s, our Hispanic doctors in the area were aware that their own people were being overlooked and underserved with medical needs. As a result of this, they decided to come together and make a change. This change started at a space being lent by the Salvation Army to these doctors providing basic medical needs.
In 2005, doctors, accounts, lawyers and other volunteers in the area come together to formally file for nonprofit status in the state of Georgia. Since then we have outgrown our needs and hope to continue to provide so much more.
